WARREN DAVISON

Inspired by road maps distributed by oil companies in the late 1940's and 1950's I created this map depicting the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area of Ontario, Canada.

I designed an ArcGIS Pro style to create this map and took several cues for the design from the printing methods used to create the early travel maps. I limited the colour palette to red and blue and also replicated a number of the signatures of the printing process. These signatures includes effects such as the half-tone fills and also the errors such as plate mis-alignment between colours. For extra character I also made repeated use of image fills to apply texture to features and labels.
