ArcGIS Pro, 2019
Amongst the various historic map effects I've been working on creating workflows to replicate, hachure relief representation has been the most elusive. In a recent map I've approximated what I feel is a pretty good method for recreating these symbols digitally.
In this map of Parry Sound, Ontario I've used hachure marks to represent terrain relief. I've documented the process in a blog post here that goes into all the details.
In addition I've compiled these resources into an ArcGIS Pro style for use in your own maps.
